Replacing the Fuel Filter in the Tank

Model: Volkswagen Touareg MK 1, 7L - Years 2002-2010

In the case of the vehicle in question, the fuel filter is integrated within the pump located in the tank, beneath the rear seat: replacing the filter requires disassembling the pump. First, lift the rear seat, remove the seatbelt anchor support to free the soundproofing panel, take off the pump's protective cap, and loosen the fixing flange. Then, extract the pump and place it in a container before unscrewing the screws underneath (the pipes are long enough).
Once the screws are removed, open the pump in two, extract the old filter, and insert the new one. Proceed in reverse for reassembly.
