To replace the key fob battery of the Volkswagen Passat B6, extract the key from the chrome top by pressing the appropriate button next to it. Once the key is extracted, you can also remove the chrome casing and pry in the groove that joins the two halves of the fob. This will allow you to open the device and remove the battery inside. You can then install the new battery and close the device, reinserting the chrome cover and the key back into its slot.
