Instructions for Replacing Spark Plugs

Model: Volkswagen Polo MK IV, Polo IV, Polo 4, MK 4, 9N - Years 2001-2009

It is recommended to perform this maintenance with the engine cold as the spark plugs are screwed directly into the cylinder head and can become very hot; first, remove the plastic cover above the engine by pulling it upwards, disconnect the connectors attached to the ignition coils and remove them; before unscrewing the spark plugs, blow compressed air into their respective seats to remove dirt that could enter the cylinders; then unscrew the old spark plugs and install the new ones without exceeding the torque specification; finally, refit the ignition coils and reconnect the connectors.
