Instructions for Replacing the Fuel Filter

Model: Volkswagen Bora MK 6 - Years 1998-2005

This maintenance task is often overlooked as it is believed that the fuel filter should only be replaced for diesel engines, especially because the filter is not located in the engine bay, but underneath the vehicle, right by the fuel tank. Therefore, lift the vehicle and locate the fuel filter, unscrew the clamp bolt and disconnect the inlet and outlet pipes by pressing on the release tab; then remove the old filter: if you empty it into a transparent container, you will see how contaminated it is; then fit the new filter, positioning it with the arrow in the direction of fuel flow, secure the pipes and the supporting clamp.
