How to Change the Gearbox Oil on a Volkswagen Golf 7

Open the bonnet, locate the air filter box, and disconnect the sensors and wiring. Remove the air intake pipe's clamp and take out the entire air filter box along with the intake pipes. Lift the battery cover and disconnect it (always disconnect the negative terminal first) and remove the battery. Using a socket spanner, remove the battery base plate by unscrewing the 4 securing bolts. At this point, you will have access to the area where the oil filter and heat exchanger are located. Remove the oil filter cap and extract the filter. Replace the oil filter and also replace the O-ring on the cap after lubricating it with a drop of oil. Refit the oil filter cap and tighten it with a socket spanner. Lift the car and access the area beneath the engine, unscrew the screws securing the engine cover, and locate the gearbox oil drain plug. Unscrew the plug with a 14 mm spanner after placing a container to collect the used oil. Use an 8 mm spanner to unscrew the overflow pipe located inside the reservoir. Attach the flange for the rubber hose to the overflow pipe to fill the reservoir with new oil, then reattach the overflow pipe. Take the new oil containers (check the oil specifications). Pour six litres of oil into the rubber hose and fill the reservoir. Finally, reverse all the steps taken by reinstalling the battery holder, the battery, and the air filter. To perform a test, start the car and select the 4 positions of the automatic gearbox for a few seconds.
