Checking the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor

If the ABS warning light comes on the dashboard and the diagnosis detects a fault code related to the right rear wheel speed sensor, before replacing the sensor itself, it is advisable to perform some checks; therefore, lift the vehicle on a ramp and locate the speed sensor: it is located on the hub; then disconnect the plug and check that the pins are not oxidised; measure the sensor's resistance using a multimeter set to the various scales: if you cannot measure on any scale, it means the sensor circuit is open and needs to be replaced (cable damage can be ruled out). For confirmation, you can measure on a functioning sensor. Then proceed to replace the sensor by first removing the wheel, then the sensor mounting bolt to extract it from its seat; apply grease to the new sensor before inserting it.
