Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf V, MK 5, Golf 5 - Years 2003-2008
Part: Wheel
Operation: Check rear wheel speed sensor

If the ABS warning light on the instrument panel comes on and the diagnosis detects a fault code relating to the speed sensor of the right rear wheel, before replacing the sensor itself, it is advisable to carry out some checks; then lift the car on the bridge and intercept the speed sensor: it is located right on the hub; then disconnect the socket and check that the pins are not oxidized; then measure the resistance of the sensor using a multimeter by adjusting it on the various scales: if it is not possible to measure on any scale then it means that the sensor circuit is open and must be replaced (damage to the wiring can be excluded). For confirmation, the measurement can be made on the functioning sensor. Then replace the sensor by first removing the wheel, then the sensor fixing pin to be able to extract it from its seat; apply grease to the new sensor before inserting it.
