How to Install Footwell Lights in a Volkswagen Golf MK5

In this tutorial video, you will see how to install footwell lights in a Volkswagen Golf MK5-MK6 by following some simple steps: the first thing to do is obtain a ceiling light (use a ceiling light taken from the sun visors of a Volkswagen Golf 4), which will be used to create the footwell lights. This ceiling light consists of a connector with two wires: red and blue (positive) and brown and white (negative); (get a longer wire to create the footwell lights). After placing it in position, run the wire under the glove compartment to the inside of the ashtray; simply lift the cover (see video) of the gear knob, remove the rubber, and you will have access to the two screws that hold the ashtray in place, then you will need a T20 screwdriver; once this is done, you will have freed the ashtray, which can simply be lifted out. Now, let's look at the different connectors; the cigarette lighter socket has three wires: two thicker ones which are positive and negative; then there is a thinner one which is grey (the bulb wire for the cigarette lighter). Strip the wire and connect it to the red and blue wire, and wrap it with insulating tape (positive). For the negative, loosen the two nuts slightly, then strip the brown wire and screw it under the nuts to ground it. Once all operations are complete, start the engine to check that everything is working correctly.
