Replacing Engine Air Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005
Part: Air filter

The air filter housing is located at the front left of the engine compartment (when facing forward), beneath a triangular plastic cover: remove the protective caps to access the securing screws and take off this cover. Then, remove the air intake hose that connects the filter box to the intake system, unclip the metal tabs securing the filter box cover, and extract the old filter, ensuring no dirt falls into the intake duct. Insert the new filter, ensuring the seal fits well, and reassemble the cover, the intake hose, and the outer cover.
