Replacing the Oil Level Dipstick Tube

The breakage of the plastic tube that supports the engine oil level dipstick is a common defect in Volkswagen engines. The continuous thermal cycles to which this tube is subjected, combined with the chemical action of the oil, tends to deteriorate the material until it breaks at the entrance to the oil sump. Replacing this component is straightforward as it is fitted in its housing: simply extract the remaining piece at the bottom, taking care not to let any debris fall inside, then insert the new one, aligning it with the centring notch and pressing it until it fits perfectly.
