To open the door of a Volkswagen Golf 8 when the remote battery is flat, press the button located on the side of the device to extract the emergency key from inside the remote. Insert this key into the designated lock on the door and turn it to open the door and enter the vehicle. For starting the engine, place the key inside the glove compartment on the centre console; while the key is in this position, press the ignition button to start the car.
