Battery Replacement Instructions

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

The battery is located in the engine bay, just below the windscreen, behind the coolant reservoir and beneath the plastic grille; start by removing the cap covering the battery compartment, then complete the removal of the plastic grille; disconnect the battery terminals and remove the mounting bracket to extract it from its location; since the grille has been removed, clean the area underneath of any leaves and dirt, consider replacing the cabin filter, and position the new battery with the terminals oriented correctly; secure it with the appropriate bracket and reconnect the terminals before refitting the plastic grille.
