Engine Oil and Filter Replacement

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Position the vehicle on suitable car stands to facilitate access to the oil sump: then remove the protective plastic cover and unscrew the drain plug to drain the used oil; once draining is complete, re-screw the plug and refit the cover; then access the engine compartment and remove the upper plastic cover, locate the oil filter housing (near the coolant reservoir) and unscrew the cap using a chain or strap wrench; extract the old filter and install the new one, replacing the sealing rings that are always included in the new filter kit; finally, fill the engine with clean oil until the correct level is reached.
