Any leaks of engine oil can generate fumes and vapors that tend to penetrate the passenger compartment through the air vents causing bad smells. To identify the oil leak, it is necessary to start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature: this will allow you to view the fumes at the point where the oil has leaked. In the 3.0 V6 engine, the oil leak is generally localized at the timing chain tensioners due to a gasket failure. In particular, a tensioner is located in the left rear part (looking at the engine from the front), just below the sleeve that connects the air filter to the intake manifold; the other is located on the front right, near the engine oil filler cap and the leak will tend to dirty the oil filter area.
