Replacing the Brake Master Cylinder

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

If pressing the brake pedal causes it to sink rather than provide the correct resistance, there is a problem with the master cylinder. To replace it, first create some working space by removing the coolant reservoir, the distribution cover, and the hoses that interfere with the brake fluid reservoir. Then, siphon the fluid from the reservoir before disconnecting the pipes and unscrewing the fixing pins of the master cylinder. Proceed in reverse for the installation of the new one, ensuring to apply the O-ring gasket and bleed the system after installation.
