Volkswagen Polo - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Polo Polo V, MK V, 6R, Polo 5, MK 5 - Years 2009-2017
Part: Brake pads
Operation: How to replace front brake pads on Volkswagen Polo.

In this video tutorial, we can see how to replace the front brake pads on a Volkswagen Polo. The first thing to do is to get inside the car, turn off the engine and pull the handbrake; pull the lever to lift the hood and secure it with a support stick. Open the brake fluid tank. Now loosen the wheel bolts, then lift the front of the car with a hydraulic jack and put support stands on it; remove the front wheel and place it under the car for more safety while working. Now turn the disc outwards to facilitate the operation; insert a flat-tipped screwdriver into the outer slot, on the front of the caliper and pull it towards you to make it come out; as soon as there is enough space between the pad and the caliper (make sure you have pushed the piston inside), remove the caps from the screws and use a 7mm hex key to remove the screws. Remove the caliper and then disconnect the two pads. With a metal brush, we need to clean the ends of the caliper support and spread some grease on the end of the new pads. Disconnect the caliper and insert the new pads.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
