EGR Valve Cleaning Instructions

The function of the EGR valve is to reintroduce a portion of exhaust gases back into the intake to repeat the combustion cycle and reduce emissions: constant contact with exhaust gases, which may also contain oil vapours and unburnt diesel, tends to clog it, compromising its proper function. Therefore, periodic cleaning of the EGR valve will preserve its operation; it is recommended to perform this maintenance with the engine cold. Start by removing the protective plastic cover, disconnect the connector, and continue disassembling the valve by unscrewing the flange bolts that secure the valve to the manifold. Once the valve is removed, clean the carbon deposits from inside the manifold using a vacuum and from the valve body; then proceed in reverse for reinstallation.
