How to Reset the Service Light on the Volkswagen Passat B6?

The Service light on the Volkswagen Passat B6 can be reset by pressing and holding the spanner button located on the right side of the instrument cluster: you need to hold this button while the instrument cluster is off. While continuing to hold it, insert the key into the ignition and turn on the instrument cluster: once it is on, press the "min" button located on the left side of the cluster. This will completely reset the Service light, and the instrument cluster can then be turned off.
