In this video, see how to repair the instrument cluster of a Volkswagen Passat B6. First, identify the pins as highlighted in the video: pins 1-2 are the 12 Volts, while pin 19 is the ground. Use the lever to open the clips. Connect the display electrically, which seems to work at the moment, but will show a fault as soon as it heats up, as we will see shortly in the video. Driving for long periods like this would be unacceptable, as the display would be of no help. The problem is the temperature sensor, and the only solution is to install a new display. If you go to Volkswagen, they would replace the entire unit, costing you a fortune. Instead, we will only remove the screen. You can find the screen on pixelfehler-hh, article PX11076. It costs £74.99. Replacing it is very simple; no soldering is required, just carefully insert the connector and position the screen in its housing. Test it by heating it up. All good. Remove the protective film. You can reassemble the cover and put it back in place.
