Removing the airbag from the Volkswagen Golf mk5 is straightforward. Only remove the airbag if necessary and ensure you disconnect the car battery first. To remove it, position the steering wheel at an angle and keep the key inserted while pulling the lever underneath. Next, insert a star screwdriver into the slot on the upper cover of the steering column; press until you hear a click that allows you to remove the centre part of the steering wheel. Once that part is removed, disconnect the airbag connector and take it out completely.
