The procedure for replacing the headlining in a Volkswagen Golf involves unscrewing the screws or removing the clips that secure all elements preventing the removal of the roof lining. You will need to detach all the interior light fittings, disconnect their respective connectors, and remove the bulbs.

Once these elements are removed, you can unscrew the screws securing the handles and completely remove them as well; then, detach the trim from the door pillars and proceed to remove the headlining by extracting it from the rear of the car.
