Resetting the service light on the 2005 Volkswagen Passat is a very simple operation that can be done independently. First, with the instrument panel off, press the button with the spanner symbol, located to the right of the instrument panel for a few seconds.

This will access the reset menu. Next, press the SETUP button, located to the left of the instrument panel for a few seconds.

After the car emits a beep, press the same button to set the next mileage for the service and turn off the instrument panel.
