Here’s how to change the spark plugs on an Alfa Romeo 159: Remove the 4 screws holding the engine cover, disconnect the electrical connector from each coil, unscrew the fixing screw, and gently extract the coil. Clean the wells and unscrew the spark plugs: Install the new spark plugs by hand, gently screwing them in to avoid damaging the threads, then tighten to a torque of 22 Nm using a torque wrench. Apply silicone grease to the terminal of the coil, reassemble the coil, connector, and cover, spray electrical contact cleaner on the contacts, and start the engine to check for proper operation. If your 159 is a 1.9 or 2.4 JTD diesel, these engines do not have spark plugs, but glow plugs that are changed using a different procedure.
