Replacing the Oil Filter and Engine Oil

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006

Lift the vehicle with appropriate jacks and secure it with suitable supports to prevent it from falling. The necessary tools are a ratchet wrench, a set of fixed wrenches, and a drain pan. Open the oil cap on the top of the engine and remove the oil filter by unscrewing it with the ratchet wrench. Place the drain pan under the engine to catch the oil. Unscrew the oil drain plug on the oil pan and let it drain. Replace the used filter cartridge with a new one. Also, replace the copper gasket on the oil drain plug and the one on the filter. Close the oil cap, reinstall the oil filter, and refill with new oil. Do not dispose of used oil in the environment; take it to designated collection centers.
