Replacing the timing belt on a BMW 3 Series is necessary when you start hearing noises or reach the mileage limit. The first step is to open the hood.

The second step is to loosen the tensioner to remove the timing belt. The third step is to remove the engine cover to access the cylinder head.

The fourth step is to remove the timing belt. Once the belt is removed, proceed to install the new one. Place the new belt in its housing and begin tightening the tensioner bolts.

After this, reassemble the cylinder head and close the hood.
