These brief and simple steps will show you how to deactivate the front passenger airbag when a child seat is present in the BMW 1 Series. First, open the front passenger door and locate the airbag lock cylinder on the side of the dashboard. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the off position to deactivate the front passenger airbag (a warning light will appear on the instrument panel), as shown in the video. At this point, correctly install the child seat, and remember to restore the airbag function once the seat is removed.
