How to Manually Open the Sunroof on a BMW

Let's see how to manually close the BMW sunroof when it cannot be done electronically. The motor is hidden in the headliner panel, between the controls and the windshield. To open it, gently pry with your fingers (it's better to avoid screwdrivers!) on the edge of the panel, which will then detach. Underneath is the motor, with a hex hole. Insert a 4 mm Allen wrench, or if you have it handy, the special tool found in the BMW kit, and turn by hand to close or open the sunroof. It is not recommended, but if you use a drill, set it to a very low torque to ensure nothing breaks.
