Replacing the Battery in a BMW 1 Series

The first thing to do when performing maintenance on any car is to reduce the risk to the operator. Therefore, for the battery replacement in a BMW 1 Series, ensure that the vehicle is securely immobilised, either on a stable surface or on a ramp. Once done, locate the battery compartment (which, in this case, is situated in the boot, beneath the panel that forms the floor of the compartment) and, using the appropriate key, disconnect the negative terminal. Now, unscrew the various bolts that secure the battery in place (as seen in the images). Disconnect the positive terminal, remove the black cover above the battery, and finally, take the battery out of its compartment. To fit the new battery, there are no images, but simply reverse the operations seen, following them backwards.
