How to Replace the Intake Air Temperature Sensor

Model: BMW Serie 3 E91, E90, E92 - Years 2005-2013

If the check engine light comes on and the code "P0111" appears on the diagnostic tool display, you need to replace the air temperature sensor on the intake manifold. This is a relatively simple task but requires attention since the sensor is in a hard-to-see location, and it is advisable to perform this when the engine is cold. First, disconnect the electrical connectors from the intake manifold, the throttle body, and the sensor. To remove the sensor, press the tab and pull it outward. Once the sensor is reinstalled, reconnect all the cables.
