How to Replace the Timing Chain on a BMW

Today we will see how to replace the timing chain on a BMW 1 Series. Start by lifting the car on a column lift or jack (if necessary, remove the front wheel using a screwdriver to take off the right wheel arch liner). Once these steps are done, lift the bonnet, remove the engine soundproofing panel and the belt cover. Using a suitable spanner, loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the chain out of its housing. Using a socket, unscrew the tensioner bolt, and remove the water pump as shown in the video. Finally, test the correct movement of the chain.
