Instructions for Removing the Expansion Tank

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Antifreeze coolant

To perform this maintenance, ensure the engine is cold since you need to drain the coolant: first, remove the splash shield from under the hood, unscrew the drain screws of the cooling system (these are the blue plastic ones under the radiator) and let the coolant flow out; disconnect the hoses from the expansion tank by removing the retaining clips; re-screw the drain screws, remove the retaining clip of the tank at the radiator located at the bottom, and pull it out of its seat by lifting it up (removing the fan makes this easier).
