Window Regulator Mechanism Replacement

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

Before disassembling the door panel to access the window regulator mechanism, disconnect the battery located in the trunk since you will need to disconnect the side airbag. Once the battery is disconnected, remove the door panel by first taking out the plugs on the armrest handle and then the trim to access the screws underneath. Unclip the panel along the edges and disconnect the lock cable and speaker connector to remove it. Remove the side airbag, peel back the soundproofing material carefully to avoid tearing it, and reach the window regulator mechanism. Loosen the clips to slide out the glass, unscrew the mounting pins of the mechanism, and remove it from its location. Reverse the process to install the new one, repositioning the drive motor.
