In this video, see how to connect a smartphone to a BMW 1 Series: the first step is to activate Bluetooth on your device. Now navigate to the car's instrument cluster to "communication" and then "manage mobile devices" and "connect new device". Choose the method and search for the device from your phone, confirm, and allow synchronisation.

You can use the system either with a cable or via Wi-Fi; connect (in this case with Apple CarPlay) and see that the mirroring function has been activated on the car's screen.
