Transmission Support Bearing Replacement

In rear-wheel drive vehicles, like almost all BMWs, there is a driveshaft that connects the transmission to the rear differential and features a central support with a bearing. It is quite common for this support to become damaged; therefore, to replace it, you need to remove the transmission, loosen the nut that holds the two driveshaft elements together, separate them, and slide out the spacer bushing. At this point, simply remove the retaining ring that holds the support in place to replace it, taking care with the cup spring.
