In this video, learn how to open and start a BMW with a completely dead key fob: first, it is useful to know that these key fobs use CR2450 batteries. To open the vehicle, remove the emergency key from the fob, which will allow you to unlock the driver's door and enter the car. The vehicle will indicate that the key fob battery needs replacing. If you press the start button, the display will inform you that the engine will not start due to the key fob. However, if you press it a second time, the display itself will suggest bringing the key fob close to the steering column, and there is an icon that appears at a specific point on the column. This is where you should place your key fob, and the display will confirm that it has recognised the fob. You can now start the engine; click start again and the car will start.
