In this tutorial, you will learn how to replace the crankshaft position sensor in a BMW 3 Series. This is a simple task but requires good manual skills. You will need a long, flexible socket wrench; otherwise, you will have to remove the entire intake manifold. Start by ensuring the engine is completely cool, then open the hood and remove both the transverse plastic cover and the air filter box. Next, move the small reservoir located on the right side of the engine, disconnect the sensor connector, and remove the single mounting bolt. At this point, you can extract the sensor from the housing, insert the replacement, and follow the reverse procedure.
