How to replace the discs and brake pads of the Bmw X1

To replace the brake discs and pads of the Bmw X1, start by opening the hood, remove the cover of the brake fluid reservoir, at the base of the windshield (left side), lift the front of the car on the left side, remove the front wheel, loosen the brake disc screw slightly with a flathead screwdriver, remove the front clip of the caliper, then disconnect the brake pad sensor, remove the rear caps of the caliper bolts, unscrew the caliper bolts, detach the caliper, insert a special tool into the caliper to retract the brake piston and attach it to the suspension spring; after removing the caliper, remove the pads and unscrew the bolts holding the caliper bracket on the disc, then remove the bracket; after removing the bracket from the disc, unscrew the disc screw slightly, without removing it from the thread, tap the disc from behind to move it, remove the screw and also remove the disc; brush the central part of the hub with a wire brush, then apply ceramic paste on both the hub and the screw hole once the new brake disc is positioned, tighten the disc screw to the correct torque, apply ceramic paste on the screw head; now position the pad bracket, tighten the two rear bolts to the correct torque; apply ceramic paste on the pad clip that goes into the caliper and on its support fins to the bracket, spread ceramic paste on the other fins of the other pad, position it on the bracket, reattach the caliper to the bracket, tighten the caliper bolts, put back the bolt caps, reconnect the brake pad sensor, reattach the pad clip, put back the wheel, tighten the bolts, lower the car, tighten the bolts and check the brake fluid level, top up if necessary; repeat the same operation for the other side.
