Overhauling the Starter Motor of the Matiz 800

The starter motor is one of the most stressed electrical components in the engine bay, along with the alternator; being a 12 V direct current motor, wear on the brushes, commutator, and bearings is normal: therefore, it will need to be overhauled; the first step is to remove the starter motor from the engine bay to work on it on a comfortable workbench; at this point, remove the solenoid that pushes the pinion forward, unscrew the captive screws to extract the armature and brush holder; after thoroughly cleaning all components, it is advisable to reassemble everything, replacing the brushes, bearings, and solenoid (all easily obtainable parts), while greasing the pinion and bush.
