How to remove the gear selector lever of the Citroen C4 Picasso

The video explains how to remove the gear lever and shows the process of removing the steering wheel. It may be hard to understand, but the YouTuber demonstrates how to access the rotary contact, known as the "clockspring", located behind the steering wheel. The gear selector lever is mounted on the steering column, just behind the steering wheel, and shares the same support as the wiper and indicator stalks. The switch block is screwed to the same metal support of the column, but is literally wedged between the steering wheel and the column. To unscrew the fixing screws of the block and slide it out, the steering wheel obstructs access. You cannot pass the screwdriver or rotate the block without first removing the steering wheel. The steering wheel is not removed only for physical space but also to avoid damaging the spiral cable (the clockspring) that connects the airbag and steering controls. That cable is attached to the switch block and passes through the steering wheel. If you try to pull the gear lever without removing the steering wheel, you risk straining and breaking the cable (and then the airbag will not work). Therefore, the correct procedure is: disconnect the battery, remove the central airbag, disconnect the airbag cable, unscrew the central nut of the steering wheel, and access the switch block, where you can separate the gear lever.
