How to replace the clutch on Fiat Punto 188

The guide shows how to replace the clutch on the Fiat Punto 188 with 1.1 Fire engine. The first step is to remove the battery and its support from the engine compartment. Once the vehicle has been lifted and the left front wheel removed, remove the wheel arch in order to be able to operate. Unscrew the gear oil filler cap and the oil drain plug. Collect the lubricating fluid in a suitable storage container. Remove the hub bolt, steering arm bolt and swing arm bolt. Remove the drive shaft by levering the attachment to the gearbox block. Carry out the same removal operation on the other side of the vehicle as well. Remove the starter motor and the support for fixing the gear cables; remove the speedometer connector. Remove the gearbox casing and remove the earth cable; remove the clutch cable and reverse gear. Place a jack under the oil pan and remove the engine mount. Lower the engine and remove the gearbox fixing bolts; pay attention as the gearbox is very heavy. At this point, remove the fixing bolts of the disc pusher and remove it; with this piece the clutch disc will also come off. Clean the flywheel and fit the new clutch kit centering it before tightening the bolts. Replace the thrust plate and mount everything in place. Adjust the height of the clutch pedal with the specific plastic nut and top up the gearbox oil. Reassemble everything in position and check the correct functioning of the clutch.
