Bleeding the Clutch Pump on a Fiat Grande Punto
Model: Fiat Punto
199, MK 3, Grandepunto , Punto EVO
- Years 2005-2018
If engaging gears is particularly difficult, especially when the engine is cold, it is likely that the clutch is not functioning properly. The first thing to try is bleeding the hydraulic system of the clutch pump, which uses the same reservoir and fluid as the brake system. Locate the bleed valve on the gearbox just behind the coolant reservoir, under the battery compartment. Prepare a bottle with a piece of fuel hose to collect the fluid during bleeding. Remove the rubber protective cap from the valve, attach the hose, and manually open the valve while pressing the clutch pedal to allow the oil to escape. As you bleed the system, keep the brake fluid reservoir topped up with clean oil.
