How to Open the Fuel Cap

When refuelling a new car or one you haven't driven before, the first challenge is usually identifying which side of the vehicle the fuel cap is on, and where to position yourself at the fuel pump. The solution is simple: on the instrument cluster, next to the fuel gauge, there is an arrow indicating the side of the vehicle where the cap is located. Once located and opened, you will find a valve that must be pressed in with the fuel nozzle. This is a precaution designed to prevent the diesel nozzle from being inserted into the petrol tank. This valve can create some difficulty if you need to top up using a can, as you will need a funnel capable of pressing and opening it.
