The Ford Ecoboost engine codes of models with an oil bath belt and those with a chain.

This video tells us which engine codes distinguish timing belt from chain distributions within the same Ford model. We will also find out where to find the engine codes for the Fiesta, Focus, Puma, and Ecosport. Let's start with the Fiesta: both the sfj 101 hp, the m1jl 125 hp, and the yyje 140 hp engines have a timing belt. The m1gm 125 hp engine, on the other hand, has a chain. Since 2019, the b7ja 125 hp engine has a timing chain, as well as the m0jb 95 hp engine, while the sfjn and sfjp versions with 101 hp have a timing belt. The Hybrid versions of the Fiesta all have a chain transmission, with the b7jb 125 hp and bzja 155 hp engines. Previous Focus models before 2017 all have a timing belt, with engine codes starting with m1; for versions from 2018 onwards, the b7da 125 hp engine has a chain. The Hybrid versions with 125 and 155 hp are also chain, but the 100 hp version with the b3da 101 hp engine has a timing belt. The Ford Puma has the same engine codes as the Fiesta Hybrid with 125 and 155 hp, so they have a timing chain, as well as the 95 hp m0ja engine. The Ford Ecosport, on the other hand, has a timing belt. The engine code can easily be found on the registration document, in section 2, under the P5 heading.
