Replacing the Crankshaft Oil Seal

Model: Ford Escort MK 4 - Years 1990-2000

Once you have removed the auxiliary and timing belts, remove the crankshaft pulley, extract the old oil seal, clean the sealing area thoroughly, and insert the new one, lubricating it generously. After inserting the new oil seal, align the timing marks and proceed with the installation of the new timing belt and the crankshaft pulley (align the keyway and tighten the fixing bolt using a torque wrench).
The failure of the crankshaft oil seal is not a common defect, but it can still cause damaging oil leaks.
