Thermostat Valve Disassembly Instructions

The thermostat valve opens when the engine reaches a certain temperature to allow hot water to exit the engine block and cold water from the fans to enter the radiator: continuous cycles of opening and closing and potential rust formation in the system can damage the valve, with serious consequences for the engine; the thermostat valve is located right next to the water pump, just below the alternator: to replace it, you will need to drain the coolant, remove the alternator, disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses, and unscrew the four fastening pins of the plastic connector beneath which the valve is located.
