How to Remove the Steering Wheel from the Ford Focus Mk3

This procedure allows you to remove the steering wheel from the Ford Focus Mk3. First, disconnect the negative battery cable and ensure the capacitors in the system are properly discharged. Next, turn the steering wheel 90° to the right and use a small screwdriver or lever to disconnect the airbag locking mechanism.

Repeat the same process turning to the left. Remove the airbag unit and disconnect the electrical connectors.

Disconnect the electrical connectors for the steering wheel controls and undo the 24 mm bolt securing the steering wheel to the column. Mark a line between the steering shaft and the base of the steering wheel for re-alignment.

Carefully extract the piece, paying attention to the electrical connectors. Reassembly is done by reversing the steps.
