How to Replace the Engine Oil and Oil Filter on a GMC Sierra Mk3

This guide shows how to replace the engine oil and oil filter on a GMC Sierra Mk3. After raising and securing the vehicle, remove the drain plug from the oil pan. During this operation, place a container to catch the used fluid. Once all the fluid has drained, close the drain plug and clean up any oil spills. Locate the oil filter and remove it with an oil filter wrench. Again, place a container to catch the lubricating fluid. Check that the gasket is attached to the filter and not to the engine block. Clean the used oil from the housing. Lubricate the gasket of the new filter with a bit of oil and install the replacement part. Fill the oil reservoir with the correct quantity and type of oil specified in the owner's manual. Run the engine for a few minutes and check the oil level. Top off if necessary.
