If the engine warning light illuminates on the dashboard, it indicates that the engine management ECU has stored a fault; to check the stored fault code and thus the nature of the problem, a multi-brand diagnostic tool is required. You can purchase an OBD II interface online to connect to the diagnostic port, which allows you to perform the diagnostic check using a simple smartphone via Bluetooth. Connect the interface to the diagnostic port (the red light confirms power) and activate the application to read the fault code and subsequently clear it. With the interface connected, you can also monitor any engine operating parameters.
