Instructions for Replacing the Oxygen Sensor

Model: Hyundai Elantra J2, MK 2 - Years 1995-2000

The oxygen sensor, better known as the lambda sensor, functions to detect the oxygen level present in the exhaust gases and provide this information to the engine management unit, which, based on this value, will adjust the amount of fuel to inject into the cylinders to achieve the correct stoichiometric ratio of the mixture: an abnormal operation of this sensor will obviously lead to excessive fuel consumption. The sensor is located on the exhaust and it is sufficient to unscrew it (it has the shape of a pin) and disconnect the relevant plug to replace it with a new one.
