Replacing the Car Alternator

The alternator is one of the most important parts of a vehicle's electrical system. It must always function perfectly, as a malfunction could cause serious issues with the battery. At the first signs of malfunction, it should be replaced, and with a good level of manual skill, it is easy to do. Park the car on a flat surface in a safe location, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery cable corresponding to the negative terminal. Remove the bolt that secures it to the engine block. Unscrew all the bolts that hold the alternator in place, and rotate the serpentine, loosening the tensioner bolt just enough to slide the alternator out.
