In order to replace a cracked or no longer functioning glow plug, a specific extractor kit must be used. In the case of a broken glow plug with an electrode protruding from its seat, insert the electrode boring cylinder and proceed with reaming. Re-tap the electrode further and proceed with reaming. Then, with a pair of pliers, extract the electrode. Then proceed with reaming the internal thread of the glow plug, then cut the thread into the body of the glow plug. Vacuum the chips present in the work area and proceed with screwing the stud for extraction. Fit the backup cylinder and the pull nut. Then remove the glow plug, clean the housing with the special brush. Use the rest of the glow plug as a plug and restore the thread of the glow plug housing. Remove the cap from the seat again and clean the area. Finally, fit the new glow plug.
